How is it possible that I never get sick?

With the recent outbreak of H1N1, it seems like everyone is constantly trying to ward off sickness. Anti-bacterial stations have been installed everywhere and “Cover Your Cough!” warning signs are around every corner.

It’s rare to find someone getting the necessary eight hours of sleep per night, and that’s making us even more susceptible.

At any given time, I have at least three sick friends all with different symptoms. Friend A is congested, Friend B has a bad cough, and Friend C is bedridden with the flu.

Despite all this, we all still hang out. Friend A is convinced they aren’t contagious. Friend B swears its just allergies, and everyone just wants to keep Friend C company.

So we all end up swimming in germs together.

Yet, somehow I never come out feeling sick. Though I’m a bit of a hypochondriac, hand sanitizer, Lysol, and I have never been super close buddies. I keep my distance from the sickies, but I’m not overly cautious.

I don’t remember the last time I downed Vitamin C or ginseng. I’m just as prone to disease as anybody else.

Amidst one of the craziest flu seasons in history, I didn’t even have the sniffles. But you can bet your bottom dollar that the second spring rolls around, and everyone is feeling refreshed and happy, I’ll be the one everyone is avoiding.

I’ll have a terrible cold and look like a big hot mess while everyone is out of the Quad playing Frisbee.

In the end, I’m not sure which is worse. Being sick with everyone else, or being the lone sick ranger.
