Centennial Residence Hall floods after heavy rainfall

Trey Marzloff just moved into Centennial Residence Hall and he's moving again.

The nursing junior woke up Friday, Aug. 15 to water flooding into his dorm room.

About 17 units in the residence hall were flooded due to clogged drains in the courtyard, but only seven residents were affected.

New choir to lead chapel services

The university chapel services will now include a newly formed choir.

The services are at 1 p.m. every Thursday.

Choir Director Dr. Timothy Olsen, university organist and chapel music director, would like to invite all faculty, staff and students to attend an informational meeting about the new choir at 5 p.

It's usually a movie on the lawn, but this year it's a movie in the lounge.

Officials decide due to rainy weather the movie on the lawn, which was scheduled to show on the Quad Lawn, will be shown in the Student Lounge in Tom and Brenda McDaniel University Center.

Blue gets 'rowdy'

Orientation got a bit "rowdy" this year with the addition of the "Blue-Out-Blow-Out" pep rally.

Student Government Association leaders were in charge this year of the orientation program that teaches new students the traditions of the university.

"SGA thinks the event rocked and it was a lot of fun," SGA President Jeff Riles said.

Law professor competes in triathlon

Law Professor Laurie Jones was among 3,000 triathletes from around the world who competed in the 8th Annual Nautica New York City Triathlon last month.

She finished 29th among women in the 50 and older age group, completing the triathlon in three hours and 12 minutes.

The Student Board of Directors is a group of students that provide feedback on all Sodexo services at OCU.

Soccer practice
