Senior students were selected to represent the music and theater departments in two showcases in New York City after graduation, A panel of judges from New York City came to OCU the first week of the spring semester to audition students. They then chose the cast for the showcase, said David Herendeen, director of opera/music theater and interim director of theater. Full story

The American Spirit Dance Company is going on tour. Each spring semester dance department officials choose a select number of dance and arts management students for an international or domestic tour. This year the company’s domestic tour will be traveling to Ada, Okla. Full story

A student is asking for ‘everybody’s’ votes. Arielle O’Keefe, commercial music composition freshman, is in the top 10 for Ingrid Michaelson’s Everybody video contest. The video entry with the most votes will be invited to perform with Michaelson at one of her concerts. Full story

Harry Potter Alliance chapter hosts charity ball

A local Harry Potter Alliance chapter will host its second annual fundraising ball at Oklahoma City University. The Oklahoma Wizards League (OWL) will present Carousing with Cupid, a Valentine’s-themed ball sprinkled with elements of the popular book series that will raise money for the Harry Potter Alliance, a non-profit organization, and STAND, the student-led division of the Genocide Intervention Network. Singer/songwriter featured on MTV shows to kick-off series

Concerts by outside performing artists may not be an uncommon event on campus starting this spring. Officials are hosting a concert free for students at 8 p.m. today in the Burg Theater in Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center. Steve Means, a 23 year-old acoustic pop /soul singer/songwriter from Nashville, will perform at the event. Full story
